I live in Sai Kung (Ho Chung).
I would like to return my glass bottles for recycling.
Can you please tell me where can I find the closest collection point?

    • april says:

We’d like to cover Sai Kung too. What we need is actors on ground for the issues of where to place recycling bins and how to organize the logistics. Please provide us your views.

      • Geraldine Young says:

There are at present a number of collection points for used clothes/bags/shoes in Sai Kung – one by the front door of the Government Office Building, one in the alley by Mannings and one close to the Wellcome supermarket in Lakeside Garden. There is room to put a glass bottle recycling bin in the alley by Manniings and in Lakeside Garden.

  2. P. Pantel says:

Would love to have a glass recycling point in Sai Kung – how about in the grounds of the Jockey Club Town Hall or in front of the stadium? Also the Sai Kung community centre behind the stadium might be good.

  3. april says:

We don’t have trips in East Territories at the moment. Jockey Club is the glass recycling sponsor for another organization that is located at NT East and would you directly send your request to Jocky Club or Hong Chi?

  4. michelle says:

there is now a glass recycling bin inside wanchai tower (12 harbour road).

    • april says:

Thanks for the information. Could you give us a precise spot of WC Tower. Will be nice to have a photo for illustration.

      April

      • michelle says:

once you go through the main entrance of wanchai tower (where immigration tower is on your right and revenue tower to your left), the recycling bins are on the lefthand side.

i don’t have a photo but here is a map:

  5. Kelvin says:

Hi, I live in Ma On Shan. Can anyone tell me where is the closest collection point? Many thanks!

  6. Dovenia says:

    Hi April,

I want to check you are still doing collection on Thursdays at Luard Road refuse collection? I plan to bring in many bags of glass by taxi from Clearwater Bay tomorrow and want to make sure you will be there in the morning!

    Thanks.

    • april says:

Yes, glass collection service for general public is open daily at Luard Rd RCP. Inside the RCP, we have glass bins and it opens from Mon to Fri during 5-9pm; Sat and Sun during 2-6pm.
On Thursday and Sat, the glass collection team is collecting glass bottles in WC bar area and the Luard Rd RCP parking lot collection is open on these two days during 8:30-11:00am. You will see a banner is mounted to during this period.

  7. Ron Adrianse says:

Can you show on a map exactly where the Luard Road RCP is?

  8. Hi there our family member! I have to state that this particular blog post rocks !, great prepared and include about most substantial infos. I must view a lot more posts this way .

  9. Philippe Plagnol says:

Hello andcongratulation for your work !! 🙂
What do you with the glasses that you collect ? do you turn it into cullet ? do you sell it to a recycling factory ?

    • April says:

Green Glass Green perform the work to collect glass bottles and then we send them directly to the eco-brick factory free of charge.

      • Philippe Plagnol says:

Thanks for your answer April ! SO 3% of the recycled waste glass is recycled by Tiostone ? And do you know where exactly are finishing the other 97% of waste glass ?

  10. Philippe Plagnol says:

    Hello April,
how many collection points do you have ?

    • april says:

Please read the map and the coverage is expanding.
There are more collection points below the map and they are run by various Housing Department and NGOs.

  11. Mike says:

When are you covering Ho Chung (New Village) or Sai Kung?

    • april says:

We are lining up partners for making a trip that is cost effective and on the other hand need to raise funding to support this trip. The current funding does not cover Sai Kung.

On the other hand, please propose where and how glass bins can be placed at the areas you mentioned. This is vitally important to have practical hints to follow up.

  12. A fascinating discussion is worth comment. There’s no doubt that that you ought to
write more about this issue, it may not be a taboo matter but typically
folks don’t speak about these subjects. To the
    next! Best wishes!!

  13. Jorge Nunes says:

    Hi there
I live on Robinson Road, Mid-levels, is there any glass recycling collection point around here? Sorry, but I can’t get around your map very well…
Thanks for the feedback guys, and well done to keep this up!
    Jorge

    • Eva says:

I live on Robinson road too. I just take walks and put them in the glass recycle bins in Hong Kong university which isn’t far.

  15. Heather says:

I live in Wan Chai and regularly recycle glass at the collection point there. The problem is, and this is a big problem, that the hole in the wall into which one drops one’s bottles is high up and the bin is often empty, meaning that the glass smashes when it falls in. I’ve tried talking to the staff there but they won’t speak English with me and I can’t express the issue in Cantonese. So unless you’re happy recycling bits of shattered glass and dealing with the danger that poses, I suggest changing the collection point set up asap.

    • april says:

For the glass bottles, they will be crushed anyway at the eco-brick plant.
Your concern of safety is correct. There is filter fixed at the bottom to avoid glass pieces coming out. In fact, most of the time the room door is open and you can get inside to place glass bottles softly into the bin.

Thank you very much for your comments and please let us updated with your thought.

  19. Oscar says:

I’m a student at Clearwater Bay school and we have a glass recycling bin in our car park. There are also glass recycling bins at the HKUST. If your child comes to our school, it may be easy to drop your glass recycling off here. We are hoping to get another bin soon.

    • april says:

Green Glass Green has been collaborating with Clearwater Bay School and HKUST in glass recycling. I appreciate you spreading the need of glass recycling and and location of glass bins around.

A glass recycling bin is installed at the front of Wong Ngai Chung public library, 3/F Wong Ngai Chung Municipal Bldg.
GGG is planning to operate glass recycling facilitation that is more convenient to the public too.

  24. d. says:

Been looking for it but not to be found. What’s the exact location?

  25. april says:

It is located outside the Wong Ngai Chung Public Library at 3/F Wong Ngai Chung Municipal Building.
